Status: Former UPU member or dependency The Mahra State was a sultanate in eastern Aden. Mahra eventually ended up part of the People's Republic of South Yemen in late 1967. These stamps were issued in that grey area of time between the end of Aden as a colony and assimilation by South Yemen. The Mahra flag depicts a star and crescent, which is likely rooted in the mythology of the region. Thus, any stamps sitewide depicting the Mahra flag are included as topical matches.
